How to Make God Your Source

Many people acknowledge God, but not everyone truly depends on Him as their source. In a world that encourages self-reliance and human strength, it is easy to trust in our abilities, connections, or resources. Yet, the Scriptures remind us that real life, strength, and fruitfulness come only from God.

Jesus made this clear in John 15:5 when He said:

“I am the vine, ye are the branches… apart from Me, ye can do nothing.”

This means our lives were designed to stay connected to Him continually. God is not just an emergency solution when things go wrong. He is the very source of our existence, direction, provision, and purpose. When we disconnect from Him, we struggle in our own strength. But when we abide in Him, we receive grace, wisdom, and strength to live effectively.

God Is the Source

He is not just your help; He is your source. He is not just a guide; He is the path. Everything about our existence must connect to Him. God is not optional—He is essential.

When you say, “God is my source,” you are declaring dependence on divine supply. No real success, enduring fruit, or eternal impact is possible without Him.

A Personal Reflection

I recall a time when I tried to navigate a season of life in my own strength. The plans looked perfect, and the resources seemed available, yet everything collapsed unexpectedly.

The moment I yielded to God’s direction, doors opened that I never knew existed. That experience taught me that human effort without God will always reach its limit, but dependence on Him brings divine direction and grace.

Practical Steps to Stay Connected to the Source

1. Start Your Day With Prayer and Scripture

Begin each day by seeking God. Prayer and the Word keep your heart aligned with His will and strengthen your relationship with Him.

2. Ask God for Direction Before Decisions

Do not move ahead without His leading. Invite Him into your plans, choices, and daily activities.

3. Acknowledge Him as Your Provider

Give God the credit for every blessing, opportunity, and provision. Publicly honour Him as your source and sustainer.

Action Statement

Stop depending on your own strength. Lean into God’s grace for every task and every season of life.

Prayer

Lord, I surrender my strength, my gifts, and my plans to You. Be my vine, and help me to abide in You continually. Teach me to depend on You in all things.

Declaration

God is my source! My help comes from the Lord. I lack nothing because He supplies everything!
